Mr. Davenport is a native of Bakersfield. After graduation from South High School in 1981, he went to work for the family business, Davenport Office Products Center, established by his grandfather, Jack Davenport, in 1944.
Mr. Davenport worked in a variety of positions, learning the intricacies of running a business from the ground up, including administration, accounting, sales, and marketing. He ultimately received a promotion to Vice President/Service Manager. When Davenport Office Products Center sold to IKON in 1995, Mr. Davenport accepted the position of Regional Inventory Supervisor, overseeing an inventory valued at over $1,000,000, with monthly sales and inventory turnover averaging $750,000. Mr. Davenport was responsible for the Central Valley, Central Coast, and Northern California districts.
IKON realigned its warehouse logistics out of Kern County in 1998, at which time Mr. Davenport accepted a position with Dedicated Dental Systems as the Operations Manager for their 14 California offices, and the corporate office. In this position, he was accountable for all Human Resources duties including employment screening, hiring, and terminating; training of all office managers and back office personnel; and policies and procedures for OSHA and California Dental Association (“CDA”) compliance, as well as implementing monthly OHSA and CDA audit programs.
Since coming to Guardian Safety Services in March 2004, Mr.
Davenport has undergone intensive training in confined space rescue, H2S safety,
respiratory protection and fit testing. He is also certified as an Emergency
Medical Technician and factory trained RKI gas detection technician.
